Dr. Abby completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland followed by a postbaccalaureate research year at the National Institutes of Health.

She then moved on to New Jersey where she attended Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical school. “One of the most important lessons I learned as a medical student was how crucial it is to listen to your patient. I believe that by simply taking time to listen, a doctor can provide healing".

Dr. Abby was drawn to the field of Endocrinology as a medical resident at Brown University.  She discovered that effectively treating a complex condition like diabetes meant providing ongoing education and counseling for her patients while helping them to navigate barriers in the way of achieving optimal control of their condition.  She  found these to be some of the most challenging yet rewarding patient-doctor interactions. “I view the relationship with my patient as a partnership. We have a common goal that cannot be accomplished without collaboration,” Dr. Abby explains.

During her Endocrinology fellowship at Duke University, Dr. Abby developed a special interest in thyroid ultrasound and biopsy. She earned Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound (ECNU) and acquired additional skills and expertise in the management of thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer.

Dr. Abby’s interests outside of medicine include reading, cooking, traveling and enjoying time at the beach with her husband and two beautiful daughters.
